Plenty of new releases on show

If you are thinking of getting a new boat — or updating an existing one — you’ll be spoilt for choice at this year’s Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show.

With OVER 700sqm MORE SPACE for exhibitors, Kiwi boat manufacturers and importers have been hard at work over the summer, getting their new models ready for the show opening on May 18.

Here’s just a little of what will be on show:

Renowned for their conventional rough water-capable designs, Invercargill boat builder Image Boats is now producing a Pontoon line as well. At the show, they will unveil their new 6.5 Pontoon, a smaller version of 7.08 Pontoon that was launched late last year.

Ultimate 18 Cuddy

Ultimate 18 Cuddy

An entry level 6-metre boat, starting from $46,500 with a 90hp 2 stroke outboard. Like its larger sibling (the Ultimate 21), it is able to be customised, has a 17 degree deadrise and fine entry for soft riding and a 200-litre flooding keel for increased stability at rest.

Nuline 450 Centre Console

Nuline 450 Centre Console

Woodbine Marine is releasing their own brand of Nuline aluminium boats ranging from the Nuline 450 Dinghy to the 480 Centre Console. Made in New Zealand from marine grade alloy, Nuline Boats is targetting everyone from first timers to dedicated fishing gurus with turnkey packages, seating 4, from $16,995.

Profile Boats 800HW

Designed for the serious fisher who wants an all-purpose fishing machine, the Profile Boats 800HW has a fully enclosed cabin and the ability to open the entire back wall to create a fully open cockpit. Powered by either a single or twin rig, it can comfortably overnight with the family or accommodate a group of mates for a weekend’s game fishing.

Beneteau Antares 8

Beneteau Antares 8

The new generation Beneteau Antares 8 boasts a new hull design with improved underway performance and handling. Designed for coastal cruising it features: full double forward en-suite cabin with separate bathroom and toilet, contemporary walnut trim finish, cockpit saloon (able to be converted into sun-lounger), front sundeck and 42 litres of refrigeration.

Greenline 36

Greenline 36

The new Greenline 36 hybrid features a 5th generation displacement hull with a top speed of over 25 knots. A sedan cruiser offering unimpeded access from saloon to cockpit, the 36 is fully-featured with solar panels, air conditioning and extensive teak decking.

Lancer RK 5000

Lancer RK 5000

Created in conjunction with Yachting New Zealand, Lancer’s new RK5000 is being billed as the ultimate on-water support RIB for yacht and boating clubs. It has been designed to excel in local conditions and be capably handled by boaties with all levels of experience.

Grady-White Fisherman 236 CC

Grady-White Fisherman 236 CC

Grady-White’s new Fisherman 236 Center Console boat will be released at the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, following rave reviews in the United States. The Fisherman 256 CC comes with a Yamaha 300hp 4 stroke outboard, custom hard T-Top and is described as unsinkable and providing a totally dry, comfortable, ride even in extreme sea conditions. Fully loaded for the serious offshore fisherman, it is capable of carrying up to 10 persons in comfort and features two huge livebait tanks, 4 large fully insulated ice boxes, and outriggers.

Strata 780 SuperSport

The Strata 780 SuperSport is the latest variant of Smuggler Marine’s 750 RIB. With a walk-through windscreen and split dash, opening up to a bow seating/lounging area, the 780 has been designed to provide plenty of space and versatility. The new design features a lower windscreen, larger cockpit and swim platforms and “trick” new interior details.

The new Merry Fisher 795 combines a new dynamic profile with a large number of innovations to improve on-board comfort.
With a V-shaped hull, which has been praised for its stability and sea-keeping, the boat is perfectly adapted to family coastal cruising and overnight trips.

The Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895 is Jeanneau’s new flagship, replacing the Merry Fisher 855 (which will be on display as an indication) and is due to arrive in New Zealand later this year.
Designed for cruising and a true weekender, the new Merry Fisher 895 offers innovations including fully enclosed glass doors between the exterior and interior and a generous cockpit.

The Jeanneau Leader 36 is endowed with a superb V-shaped hull and features a sporty design with a highly versatile cockpit. Easy to handle, the new Leader 36 is particularly well suited for short cruises and overnight stays with family or friends. Used in the pursuit of inquisitive sharks for the critically acclaimed TV Show Fish of the Day.

Sealegs 7.7m Sport D-Tube

Sealegs 7.7m Sport D-Tube

Designed and built in-house by Sealegs, the new 7.7m Sport D-Tube is aimed at those wanting more volume, coupled with additional features for fishing. The open layout allows anglers to play fish right around the centre console while  the placement of the inboard powerpack on the transom allows for additional under-seat storage beneath the helm seat.
