LegaSea is a non-profit organisation dedicated to restoring marine abundance and ensuring we have a healthy and diverse marine ecosystem. We want to protect the things we love and cherish here in New Zealand - our Oceans and Fish.
We fight for non-commercial and recreational fishing interests when it comes to our rights to gather seafood.
Our main objectives are to:
Keep the public well informed about the state of our fisheries.
Remove bottom trawling from our inshore waters.
Demand the Ministry for Primary Industries review the way in which our fishery is managed and overhaul the QMS (Quota Management System)
Another important aspect is educating the public around how to reduce their impact whilst fishing.
Key initiatives include The Kai Ika Project, FishCare and Free Fish Heads.
